Weekend Top 5: Mid Century Modern

Yes, I still have Mad Men on my mind. Unrelated to tonight’s season finale, we took a trip to the Amon Carter Museum this weekend. It can be summed up in one word: disastrous. We took the kids. I guess we were under the assumption that they would enjoy an exhibit of American photography during the 1930s. I didn’t see much photography, but between diaper changes, fingers touching paintings and a complete meltdown, I managed to snap a few shots of the gorgeous Philip Johnson-designed building, which, of course, reminds me of Mad Men. I guess maybe it is related afterall.

  1. I haven’t seen photography up at the Amon Carter in a while, but watch their exhibit calendar for when they do bring it out – they have an amazing permanent collection when other stuff isn’t on display. I went when they opened the new addition and had much of their photography collection up (many years ago).

This also might be a better option, if you can make a Friday morning trip to the museum:
