While we’re on the topic of children, France and things I love, I thought I’d mention a new book that Jason received as a birthday present this year (thank you, Kelton and family!). The Happy Lion, by Louise Fatio and illustrated by Roger Duvoisin, is a sweet and funny tale of a lion who leaves his home at the zoo to visit his friends in town.
After reading it to Jason the night of his birthday party, the book found its way into Jenna’s room and hasn’t left. She requests it nearly every night. My favorite part is the oh-so-french illustrations. But Jenna, she likes the comedy. Her favorite part is the exaggerated reactions of the people who happen upon the lion, which she reenacts over and over: “Hoooooooh!” “Huuuuuhhhh!” “Oh-la-la!”
