An Alice-in-Wonderland-Inspired Tea Party

We celebrated Jenna’s 4th birthday this weekend with an Alice-in-Wonderland-inspired tea party. When I asked her later that night what her favorite part was, she said ‘the goody bags,’ which was hysterical to me because 1) she didn’t actually receive a goody bag and 2) the goody bags were the one thing I didn’t get a picture of. Oh well. Here are the things I did manage to photograph:

The outdoor Mad Hatter’s Tea Party

The teacup cake, inspired by this adorable cake

Playing tea party

Jenna as the Cheshire Cat and the Queen

Tea Party Photo Booth

Outdoor tea party set-up and Jenna blowing out the candles

We served fruit, cookies and petit-fours

Lots of petit-fours

Jason as the Mad Hatter

A game of croquet at the Queen’s Court

Tea for mommies and daddies

Jenna as the Queen, sitting on her new throne

Pre-party dress rehearsal, which turned out to be the only time she would wear the dress

The invitations and thank you cards, which you can download here.

  1. I have been anxiously waiting for photos of the party. What a gorgeous day you had and the photos are wonderful. What a lucky little girl to have such a wonderful party. Well done!!

    • Thank you so much! We lucked out with the weather – it was rainy the day before, but sunny and perfect on party day. And Jenna was super happy, so that’s what matters most!

  2. What a cute party! Did you bake the petit fours? Love it, tiny cakes for tiny people. My daughter turns 3 in October and I have no idea what her party will be yet. Last year it was Halloween-ish, I need something girly this year!

    • Girly was definitely fun! And a little funny since most of her attendees were boys. They ran around the tea party table playing water guns most of the time 😉

I wish I could say I baked the petit-fours (they were delicious), or the cake, or the cookies we served. I decorated the cake myself, but everything else was purchased. For past parties, I’ve made a lot of the decorations by hand and baked some of the goodies, but this year I didn’t have as much time to spend on the preparations. Maybe planning a vacation and a party in the same week wasn’t such a good idea …
